The Filières du talent DCNS

Transmitting our knowledge of nautical matters…

“A vocation is a passion turned into a career”(Stendhal).

This quotation alone neatly sums up the spirit of the Filières du Talent program launched by DCNS, an original initiative that boasts the participation of Marc Thiercelin as its chief mentor. The key themes of this program? Knowledge sharing and the sea with, at its heart, a sense of passion: a passion for the sea and a passion for its core business activities are two key components of the DNA of the DCNS Group driven, as it is, by a set of common values: the desire to share a passion, the love of a challenge, the ambition to succeed, the spirit of innovation, and respect for past achievements.

These different values inspire the Filières du Talent DCNS operation, whose essential backbone is the sharing of knowledge. The program has been divided into two parts: professional skills and ocean racing. The first will enable 150 young people to pursue sea-related professions once they have completed a period of training; the second will allow a gifted young yachtsman to set sail as Marc Thiercelin’s partner in the Jacques Vabre 2009 two-man transatlantic race, before competing single-handed in the no less renowned Route du Rhum.

Thanks to the knowledge shared by DCNS employees and Marc Thiercelin, all these young talents will be able to live to the full their passion for the sea. All these different challenges are designed to motivate all the Group’s teams and to highlight the exceptional human and technological resources of DCNS.

DCNS and Marc Thiercelin: two older brothers, two ways to give free rein to individual talent.

  • The professional skills approach:

this 3-year program will make it possible to train 300 young people in the demanding professions of the sea and to help 150 of them to find jobs.

  • The ocean racing approach:
