Seawater exchanger for submarines

The function of “seawater” exchangers is to evacuate the heat produced by the propulsion plant away from the submarine.
The way they work is to transfer the calories captured by the cooling system (freshwater) to seawater taken from outside the vessel.

The submarine seawater exchangers incorporate:

  • More than 30 years of experience at DCNS in the design and manufacture of pressurized equipment and exchangers
  • Feedback from vessels in service
  • The expertise of CESMAN, DCNS's materials laboratory
  • Power:
  • Materials:
  • 150 kW to 3 MW
  • titanium, steel, nickel-based alloys
