RMPS

Raft mounted propulsion system

RPMS is a raft-mounted CODAD (Diesel And Diesel) type propulsion system offering high performance in terms of acoustic discretion and damage resistance.

RMPS architecture has been directly developed from DCNS expertise in the design and manufacture of silent propulsion systems for submarines.

  • The low-frequency suspension of the propulsion engines optimizes acoustic discretion.
  • The extensive travel allowed by the suspension helps to improve shock resistance.
  • Reliability of the gear units made by DCNS
  • Robustness of a highly integrated and compact system
  • Modular design facilitating on-board integration.

The RMPS propulsion architecture can be combined with the APRS Advanced Power Regulation System. This contributes to:
•    Improving maneuverability when turning and in developed seas
•    Reducing fuel consumption during operation
•    Reducing engine fatigue.

The RMPS system is fitted on the La Fayette (France), Kang Ding (Taiwan), and Al Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) frigates and will be fitted on the Indian Navy's P28 frigates.
