The FM 400 family
The FM400 frigate benefits from a wealth of developments made for a long line of furtive frigates that began with the celebrated Lafayette-class vessels and continues today with the FREMM frigates. Just like its predecessors, the FM400 is a multi-mission vessel and is capable of satisfying a wide range of naval needs.
The FM400 is tailored for the majority of crisis situations in coastal waters or on the open sea. It is particularly efficient in dealing with asymmetric threats in coastal regions thanks, in particular, to its 360° vision. The frigate can also form part of a larger integrated naval force, contributing the full force of its firepower, which includes vertical launch anti-air missiles. In addition to its multi-mission version, the FM400 can also help to optimize the capabilities of a naval force in a particular area, such as anti-submarine operations, land attack or anti-aircraft combat.
Designed and built to military standards, capable of meeting navies’ requirements in terms of signature (radar, infrared, acoustic, magnetic) and survival capacity (underwater explosion, military attack), the frigate also boasts well-designed living quarters.
